Build A Fabulous Foundation Part 1

I always find that the beginning of a new year gives us a chance to re-evaluate our businesses (if we are an established rep)or give a new representative the motivation and spur to think "how great can I make this business this year?" It's a time to make goals, figure out what planning you need to achieve them, and then break down the journey into smaller pieces, and work step-by-step towards achieving those goals.

When I joined AVON back in 2006, much of the training was done in booklet form, unlike today's interactive modules online. Most of the info available was to do with either selling or leadership, whereas today we have so many more resources, including the one-pagers about specific products, that are so handy to print out and carry with us, especially when brand new products are introduced. My advice to new reps (and old) is to utilize the resources we have. Use them to further your knowledge. Work through the training modules, many are only 5 or 10 minutes long and easy to digest. One of my mantras has always been "a little and often". This could transpose to working 1 module daily, investing that small slot of time in yourself and your business.

In deciding how you want to run your business, you have to firstly figure out your short term goals, and your long term. I have representatives who came into AVON with one purpose in mind, maybe to make a car payment or pay for a family vacation. I've had others who will join in September or October solely to earn enough to cover their Holiday expenses, Thanksgiving or Hannukah celebrations or Christmas presents for their family. I even have some people who joined simply to get a discount on their own purchases (and, in the beginning, that was me!). You have to decide what you want out of it, and that - in turn - will affect the plans you will make and the amount of time and energy you will put into making it happen.

If your main idea for your business is to sell, then your strong foundation will be your customer base. Since most customers will only place an order once every 3-4 campaigns, my advice would be to aim for 4-5 times as many customers as you want to have regular campaign orders, in order to achieve and maintain your sales goal and earnings possibility.

You may want to explore other ways of selling, not just to the people who you already know. personally. Some AVON reps enjoy group selling opportunities, such as parties or fundraising with local organizations, others utilize creative talents and make gift baskets or assortments and incorporate them into their business. You can choose which additional ways suit you, and add them to your plans.

Find what suits you and work it to the best of your ability to accomplish what you want.

Build a solid foundation for your selling business

Starting Off Another New Year

Whether you've been a rep for years, or have just joined and this business is a new venture, a new year is a great time to make goals and then plan on how you intend to realise them. I always find the process to be self-motivating. It's easy to become jaded after selling for a long period, and a new year provides a chance to revitalize your thinking and approach it with a fresh outlook.

For me, it's a chance to sift through and realise which things have worked for me, and which may not have been as successful. We are all different, and what makes somebody else successful may not suit our personality or talents. For instance, we have a few people on this team who make amazing baskets and gifts, but my talents with those are sadly non-existent. I have followed videos and step-by-steps, but my finished offerings leave much to be desired. Sometimes you have to accept that something is not for you, and that that is ok. Feeling you are a failure, because you cannot utilize a certain way to work your business, is self-defeating. There are so many ways to be successful with AVON, it's simply a matter of finding what works, and is the right fit, for you.

If you've not taken a look at the various training modules in the AVON U, now is a great time to make the effort and see all the new additions, and decide which will be most beneficial to you, and begin to work through them. They are geared towards helping you learn how to work your business, some offer product knowledge, many explain the various processes involved in selling or leadership. There is no "right" way to approach them, although for new representatives, I suggest working through those that AVON have collected together as a starting point.

If this is not your first year, now is also a  great time to begin working on your taxes. By going through 3-4 invoices daily (even allowing for a couple of "just don't feel like doing it today" days, you can have the basics sorted in a couple of weeks, and then it's just mileage, donations and what I call "the small stuff" to finish and be ready by the time your 1099 comes from AVON (if you sold more than $5000) to be ahead of the game in filing your taxes. Even if you don't get a 1099, it's still worth filing, my first year, only 3 months in and hadn't really sold much at all, my deductions for mileage alone was around $600.

So, I wish you a successful and productive 2021, and hope that you have an awesome year and realize all your dreams!

Make no resolutions - just make plans

I am constantly re-evaluating my business, it doesn't take a "new year" to persuade me, I re-work my goals and make the plans to help me achieve them, each week, and sometimes change some things daily. I believe that working our businesses also means working on ourselves, so I take the time to watch a lot of inspirational videos by the most successful AVON representatives, along with motivational ones from leaders in the field as well as some old favourites who are no longer with us (Jim Rohn being one of them) whose words continue to ring true.

How do you want to grown in 2019?

If you are in Leadership, do you have a title level that you would like to achieve? What steps are you going to take to make it happen? How will you build your team?

If your goal is President's Club this year, what are your sales goals each campaign? How do you intend to find new customers? Will you re-vamp your, or start a new, blog to broaden your reach?

Look at your goals and break them down.

If your goal is to garner new customers, remember the Power of 3 and work it - if you can't do it every day then plan to use it however many days you think that you can. In person connections are the best, but you can connect with people by phone and also my texts and messaging through platforms like Facebook.

If you are wanting to team build, then look for people you know, who need money or are looking to add an additional income. Also look among your current customers who spend a lot with you and would welcome the discount, and also those who want more than they can afford.

Treat your business as if you were working a job for the x-hours that you allocate to it. Imagine a supervisor breathing down your neck, pushing you to greater productivity. Don't get so relaxed in that you can work around your own schedule, that you really don't spend any time "working" it but just seem to float on through just taking orders and not really doing much else.

Continually grow - challenge yourself and bask in your successes.  If you try something and it doesn't work for you, no worries, try something else.

Have  a wonderful 2019! I wish you much success in the next 12 months. Set your goals, make those plans to achieve them, and soar!

A New AVON Year - What Are Your Goals?

The 2018 AVON year has come to an end, and with no further ado, we ushered in Campaign 1 of 2019, and thus a new trek towards President's Club and accolades for other achievements along the way.

Everybody starts again, at $0 in sales and the first level to reach is $10,000 in sales awards and thus gain the President's Club level and a guaranteed 40% commission on your orders whether they are $5 or $500 (25% on fixed earnings items instead of 20%). Other perks of attaining the  President's Club level include being able to order 3 of every demo item in the What's New book, each campaign, instead of the 1 allowed every representative, plus a get together where other achievements - top sales, team growth etc - are all recognised.

In Campaign 1 AVON is giving us double award sales points to help us get a jumpstart on our 2019 journey towards President's Club. So, if you have $25 in sales it becomes 50 points towards the 10,000 needed to achieve the goal, if you have $500 in sales, it becomes 1000 points, and so on. It's a great opportunity to start building those points!

In AVON, you can opt to sell, or to sell and "do leadership". Leadership has more responsibilities and needs you to want to build a team and then help those people to achieve their goals. Some people do not want to get into that side of the AVON business opportunity, and that's ok. This business is one in which YOU decide what you want to put into it and what you want to get out of it ...

however ...

I would like to suggest, that if you AVON goal is purely to sell, and to enjoy the benefits of a commission, the opportunity to get products ahead of customers via the demo "What's New" books, that you take a look at working towards President's Club, and thus get double commission on lower campaign sales, when you have them.

The baseline 40% commission (25% on fixed earnings items) applies to not only face-to-face orders but to those made through your e-rep store as well, so if a customer orders $80 worth of fragrance, make up and SSS, you would receive $32 in commission v. $16. If someone orders $50 boots, you'll get $12.50 commission instead of $10. Those extra dollars add up and mean MORE MONEY IN YOUR POCKET.

If you are a representative who simply uses his/her AVON money to fund your own purchases, then look at it this way - a $200 order in a campaign would allow you to get more of your own wants.

If your goal for 2019 is Leadership, and you don't know how to start, contact me or your immediate upline and ask us for help, that's what we are here for, that's how we earn our bonuses. My "job" is to support you, in your business, to achieve the goals you make for yourself.

If you are already in Leadership but want to grow in title this year, begin by planning what you need to do in order to accomplish it and how you are going to work towards it.

Sometimes it helps by making a dream board, so that you see your goals every day and are encouraged to start that day afresh and with the mentality to "do it today".

You have to understand your "why" and stay focused on it.

Life gets in the way. We get sick, or the kids get sick. Family members or friends have trials and tribulations that can carry us away with them. We get exhausted. We end up over committed to what others need us for.

It's ok to take a step back and get through it, and then pick up again. That's the joy of having your own business.  Knowing your "why" will help you get re-focused when you are trying to get back "on track".

Do you know your "why"?

I wish you all a wonderful 2019 AVON year, and that you achieve all you set your mind to. I know I am well blessed with knowing you all, and with the opportunity AVON has given me

What's the What's New book?

The AVON What's New book is your preview of what will be featured in an upcoming brochure, and offers you the opportunity to see what will be "hot", and to have items on hand to show, or stock up on to sell.

The AVON What’s New Campaign 24 2018 is the one we'll show here. I love it because it has so many great gift ideas in, and I know the "retro" look on many items is going to be a big draw to our customers. People like nostalgia!

AVON What’s New Brochures
are also known as AVON Demo Books and contain products that all AVON Representatives to purchase prior to the official campaign start date for the AVON brochure.

It is a chance for current Avon Reps to order new products, sales tools, and samples at discounted prices.

There are 2 prices shown: The R price is for representatives and the PRP price is the price for President’s Club members. (Another reason to strive for President's Club each year!)

Your sales level determines the quantity you can order of each product unless the item says otherwise (for example: no demo limit).

You can order demos for the current campaign and the upcoming 2 campaigns. You can order out of the AVON What’s New Campaign 24 2018 brochure in Campaign 22 2018 and Campaign 23 2018

When you are in Campaign 24 2018, you can also order out of the What’s New brochures for Campaign 25 2018 and Campaign 26 2018

Remember these catalogs are for AVON Representatives only. They are already discounted so you DO NOT EARN COMMISSION ON THEM.

They do, however, count for 75% of award sales towards your total for the Campaign.

Demo Limits

Demos give customers the chance to experience the scent of a fragrance, the shade of a lipstick, or the feel of a moisturizer…before they buy.

Order demos and samples every campaign to support AVON offers and you’ll see that demos are worth the investment.

Depending on your Avon sales level, see the demo limits below:
  • All Representatives – 1 of each demo unless specified otherwise
  • President’s Club – 3 of each demo
  • Honor Society – 5 of each demo
  • Rose Circle – 10 of each demo
  • McConnell Club – 15 of each demo
I also buy any clothing or items for myself, from the Demo book ... and then "demo it" by wearing the clothes or showing off the item.

Demo items come off your taxes at the end of the year too, so it's a win-win situation.
